What made me decide to become a Reflexologist? This is the question that I get asked all the time. Well it wasn't an overnight decision, I can tell you that. It actually started back in 2015 when I was working for a pharmaceutical company. This job was extremely stressful to the point that it was making me sick. I was in and out of the hospital, I had to have surgeries and I ended up missing a lot of work using FMLA until finally, on June 22, 2015 I was laid off from my job. I never felt so much relief before and the weight just disappeared. After a few days of the realization setting in I decided that I was going to take this time to think about what my next step was going to be. I decided that I wanted to try something new. So, I started putting some thought into what kind of job I wanted to do. Do I want to work for someone else or try starting a career where I can work for myself? It took me a few months to figure it out. I went to psychic readings off and on. I meditated a lot. Read books about taking a new path to success. A few things came to mind and I started doing research online and reflexology was one of them. I wasn't sure about the reflexology at first. I was kind of skeptical about it and had the thoughts of, "does it really work?" I meditated on it a few more times and then one night while I was sleeping a voice just started yelling out reflexology!! This voice was yelling so loud that it woke me up out of a deep sleep and I thought it was a real person standing there right beside me. I was in a panic at first but then I said to myself, "I will research reflexology again in the morning and see if there are any classes that I can take, try it out and see if this is something that I can do". All of a sudden this voice said, "thank you".
The next morning I poured myself a cup of coffee and started researching reflexology again. I really got into the research and found a class that had already started but I decided to call anyway and get some insight on seeing when the classes my start again. So I called Thomacine Haywood and she informed me that I could start now if I wanted to and gave me details on cost and supplies needed. So I paid for the first class and went to her house. There was a small group of us that she was teaching I felt relieved that I wasn't the only one that would be missing the first class. During class I was struggling with the techniques at first but then it started clicking and felt confident that I was getting it. After class I was asked to stay after for a minute so she could talk to me about something and I was like, " oh great, she's going to tell me this is not for me". So, after class she was talking to me about tuition and said she would work with me on payments. So, I asked her about how she thought I was doing and she said, "I didn't want to say this in front of the other students but you are a natural!" "You are definitely in the right place". "You can make something of this" I was so excited after she said that and I knew right then and there to always trust my instincts and to always pay attention to my inner voice.
